Joe is married and the a father of two teenagers. A native of North Carolina, Joe chose Asheville as the place to create a home and raise a family.
Joe has accumulated a unique wealth of experience in his lifetime. Joe lived in Israel where he studied and worked in agriculture for three years. This experience offered him the opportunity to understand other cultures and the challenges people face when they are surrounded by policies, languages and governmental structures intricately different from that in which they are accustomed.
Joe's entire history and experience lead him to choose the law as the area in which he would apply his unique skills. With the goal of judicial service in mind, Joe's legal career began in the trenches and moved through the ranks. Having served as a deputy sheriff, the evolution included investigations for the district attorney's office, pretrial release case management and finally attorney, Joe actively worked within the system and is intensely aware of the importance of integrity and intelligence in the District Court system.
Joe's desire is to serve the community, to add to the integrity and independence the Buncombe County Court system has so carefully achieved, and to ensure that everyone who comes before him will feel that they have been heard and treated with fairness.
